  • Corringham Primary School's "Dragon's Den"
Corringham Primary School's "Dragon's Den"Angela Smith writes, "One of the highlights of my recent visits was going to Corringham Primary School to be a judge for their Dragon's Den competition about designing and building a new bridge across the Thames. I have been following this project from the start. "Myself, Father David and Mr Garland, the Headteacher, were the judges as 8 groups of pupils presented their bridge models and their plans. They had to consider the environment, the cost, the strength and resilience of the bridge, build a model and then make a formal presentation to the team of judges. They had they...
  • Growing your own fruit and veg
Growing your own fruit and vegPlans to bring under-used and unloved land back into use so that communities and hundreds of keen would-be fruit and vegetable growers have somewhere to get digging, were announced by the Government last week. Angela Smith welcomed this move, knowing how well used local allotments are. Angela said, "more and more people want to grow their own fresh vegetables and know where their food has come from. Sure Start is one of the great achievements of the government and Angela has been hugely impressed with the work that has been done in the area. Before 1997 there were no Children’s...

This change could allow blind and partially sighted people to travel on public transport with confidence. By having audio and visual announcements about the next stop and final destination, passengers will be able to travel with far more ease. It would also benefit every other passenger, which in a time when more people are being...

In England, 6% of 11-17 year-olds have used sunbeds." On the morning of the Second Reading of the bill in the House of Commons, Danielle Lineker came along to join MPs to back the Bill at the House of Commons and promote fake tan as an alternative. Angela said, "I am pleased to say that the Bill got...
